Introduction

Globetom specialises in the the delivery of application server platform solutions that can scale with ease to meet eXtreme Transaction Processing (XTP) and Web-scale IT objectives. This specialisation is based on our GEF platform. The platform is proven in demanding Telecommunications customer environments where we switch over 450 billlion middleware messages per annum on commodity hardware and Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the certified Operating System.

Gartner coined the term web-scale IT to describe the ways that large cloud companies such as Google, Amazon, and Facebook deliver seamless user services on a massive scale.

According to Gartner, by 2017, Web-scale IT will be an architectural approach found operating in 50 percent of global enterprises, up from less than 10 percent in 2013, according to Gartner, Inc. Web-scale IT is a pattern of global-class computing that delivers the capabilities of large cloud service providers within an enterprise IT setting by rethinking positions across several dimensions.

Gartner further defines XTP as an application style aimed at supporting the design, development, deployment, management and maintenance of distributed transaction processing applications characterized by exceptionally demanding performance, scalability, availability, security, manageability and dependability requirements.
